Penang, 1 December 2025 – The Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel ushered in the most wonderful
time of the year with its much-anticipated Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, a cherished
tradition since 2003.

This year’s celebration held special significance as it coincided with the hotel’s 140th anniversary,
marking a season of reflection, gratitude, and enduring heritage.

The centerpiece of the evening was a magnificent 6-meter-tall Christmas tree, standing proudly
in the heart of the Heritage Wing lobby.

Adorned with festive ornaments and fairy lights, the tree stood resplendent as guests gathered in
anticipation of the official lighting moment, a symbolic gesture to welcome the festive season.

In attendance were the hotel’s valued guests, the expatriate community, corporate partners, and
staff, who enjoyed a joyous evening over drinks and an assortment of festive canapes, including
Lobster Louie, Spiced Prawn Croquettes, Mince Pies, and Traditional Fruit Cake.

The atmosphere was further elevated by the Penang Island Chorus, whose melodious carols filled
the grand lobby with holiday cheer.

Hotel General Manager Alison Fraser said, Christmas at the E&O has always been a time of joy,
gratitude, and togetherness.
