Penang, 1 December 2019 – Classic Christmas decorations of all sorts welcomed guests at the Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Hotel lobby during its signature Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

The annual affair was more joyous and significance this year with the reopening of the newly-refurbished Heritage Wing.

Standing resplendent in the middle of the refreshed lobby is the captivating centrepiece, a six-metre tall Christmas tree featuring assorted shiny Christmas ornaments with oversized wrapped gift boxes laid beneath.

The lighting of the tree was greeted with much cheer and applause.

The night culminated with guests and hotel staff belting out classical Yuletide carols alongside the Messenger choir.

Hotel general manager Alison Fraser said Christmas was a joyous occasion and should be celebrated with loved ones.

“It is a great honour and pleasure for us to celebrate the spirit of Christmas in the company of our supportive hotel guests, business associates and media liaisons.

“Today marks another milestone for the E&O as we reopen the doors to the Heritage Wing after months of refurbishment, and I am happy to share this moment with all in attendance,” she said.

The guests spent the night mingling with one another over cocktails and canapes, exploring the newly renovated spaces and suites, and strolling the grounds of the Heritage Wing as they took in the festive atmosphere.
